OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

Twiggs County deputies attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by Christopher Jabari Martin Holmes and another person. Holmes refused to stop, and deputies escalated a pursuit onto I-16. The vehicle crashed near the Sgoda Road exit. As deputies approached the wreck, Holmes and the other occupant began shooting. Deputies returned fire and shot Holmes. The second person surrendered and was taken into custody. A separate vehicle later struck a patrol car at the scene, injuring a deputy. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.
