On 08/07/2025, at approximately 9:09 p.m., a man called Bell County Communications stating he was suicidal, had lost his wife and home, and had a gun. He was located in front of the Temple Police Department at Avenue A and 4th Street. Police stated he kept the gun pointed at his head, repeatedly telling officers to shoot him. At approximately 9:20 p.m., he lowered the gun from his head and pointed it toward officers. Seven officers opened fire, killing him. The Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation.
