OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/05/2025 at approximately 3:00 p.m., deputies with the Pike County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on Cole Thomas Road near Highway 44 East after reports of a shooting. Investigators determined that Clay Paulk, 44, forced entry into the home of a woman with whom he had previously been in a relationship.
According to investigators, Paulk shot Sgt. Jason Blake, an off-duty McComb Police Department officer, with a shotgun. Blake died at the scene. Paulk also shot Nicki Wilson, who was transported to Southwest Regional Medical Center with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
Investigators believe Paulk then used a handgun to shoot himself before law enforcement arrived. Deputies located his vehicle a short distance from the residence. Paulk was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Pike County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation with assistance from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Authorities described the incident as an apparent murder-suicide, and the investigation remains ongoing.
