On 08/08/2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Tustin Police responded to the Axiom Apartments in the 13000 block of Tustin East Drive. Police stated off-duty Orange County Sheriff’s deputy shot his 35-year-old roommate, Brittany Shaw, after reportedly mistaking her for an intruder when she returned from walking her dog. She was transported to a hospital where she died. The deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave.
