On the evening of August 11, 2025, Mari Bonnici, a 38-year-old detention officer with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, was fatally shot inside her apartment on Quigg Drive in Santa Rosa. The incident occurred during a domestic dispute involving her former partner, Deputy Jeremy Lyle. At the time, their three children, an infant and twin toddlers, were in the home and were unharmed.
