At approximately 9:13 a.m., a North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper observed a white Audi SUV traveling west on Interstate 40 near Gallimore Dairy Road. Evans was the son of the late Bernard Anthony Oliver Evans Sr. and Faye Collins Evans. His father, a U.S. Army veteran, died in 2023. Evans Jr. attended schools in Winston-Salem and was associated with First Waughtown Baptist Church. His family called him “Ben.” He was the father of two children.
