On 08/13/2025, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents conducted an operation at a Home Depot on Huntington Drive in Monrovia. During the raid, 52-year-old Guatemalan day laborer Carlos Roberto Montoya ran toward Interstate 210. He crossed Evergreen Avenue and was struck by an SUV on the eastbound lanes. He was transported to a hospital and died. His death sparked outrage among immigrant rights advocates.
