OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/13/2025, at approximately 10:12 p.m., Santa Rosa Police officers responded to a reported domestic violence incident at a residence in the 900 block of Keegan Drive. A 20-year-old male allegedly pistol-whipped his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend, the mother of his two-month-old child, before barricading himself inside the residence. The ex-girlfriend, the infant, and her parents escaped unharmed. Officers established a perimeter, and a SWAT team with crisis negotiators attempted to make contact with the man for several hours.
At approximately 4:55 a.m. on 08/14/2025, the man exited the home armed with a firearm and advanced toward officers. A SWAT officer opened fire, striking him. The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:57 a.m. His name has not yet been released by authorities. The Santa Rosa Police Department stated that the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office are conducting an independent investigation.
