OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Just before 2:00 a.m. on August 16, 2025, Crestview Police found a vehicle parked near a closed business in the 1600 block of South Ferdon Boulevard. Inside was a person with a firearm who made suicidal remarks. Officers engaged in conversation for nearly three hours seeking a peaceful resolution. The situation escalated when the individual pointed the firearm at an officer, and police opened fire and killed the person. No officers were injured. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an independent investigation.
