Austin Police responded around 6:49 p.m. to a strip mall on the 1800 block of W Slaughter Lane in South Austin. The individual was connected to a series of burglaries, including a gun-involved home invasion the prior day. When officers approached, the person pulled a handgun from his waistband. A bystander tackled him, and officers opened fire. The individual was shot and killed. A bystander was struck in the shoulder and is expected to recover. No officers were injured.
