On 08/30/2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Independence police responded to the 15400 block of East 42nd Terrace after a reported hit-and-run crash. Neighbors told KMBC that a vehicle had struck a large wooden utility pole with enough force to break the pole into pieces. Witnesses described hearing squealing tires followed by a loud crash.
