Deputies with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a suspicious person in the St. Augustine South neighborhood. The man, identified as Bradd Sweeny, was holding a gun when confronted by deputies. He did not comply with commands, and deputies opened fire, killing him. Authorities said they had received multiple prior calls about the same individual in recent months.
