OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 09/18/2025, Blaze Aleczander Balle-Mason, 17, called 911 from a Conoco gas station in Aurora and claimed he had a 9mm handgun. He threatened to shoot people and said he would fire on police when they arrived. Officers responded and gave repeated commands for him to show his hands. He kept his hands in his pockets and advanced toward officers. Less-lethal foam rounds were fired but did not stop him. An officer then opened fire, fatally wounding him. No firearm was found at the scene. Reports indicate he was experiencing a mental health crisis when he made the 911 call. A bystander stated that he did not point a gun at police.
