On October 5, 2025, Houston police responded to reports of a man firing an AR-15 rifle near Hartwick Road and Maple Leaf Street in northeast Houston. Officers ordered the 29-year-old man to drop the weapon. When he continued firing, two officers opened fire, killing him.
