Deputies responded to a disturbance involving a man reportedly destroying property inside a residence on the 4300 block of 82nd Avenue North. Eric Ton barricaded himself with a knife and refused to surrender. Deputies attempted negotiations and deployed less-lethal rounds. Ton allegedly lunged at an officer, prompting Deputy Greyson Ekdahl-McBride to open fire. Ton was struck in the upper body and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
