Huntington Beach police attempted to stop a black SUV for reckless driving around 12:50 a.m. The driver continued driving at high speed, running red lights through city streets. The chase ended when the vehicle collided with another car and a pole at Beach Boulevard and Warner Avenue. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in the other vehicle was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. A dog inside the SUV was also injured and taken to animal care.
