On 10/15/2025, 51-year-old Steven Ainsworth was killed when a fleeing driver being pursued by Clear Creek County deputies collided with his vehicle on Highway 6 near Interstate 70. The suspect, identified as Christopher Moore, was reportedly on parole and driving the wrong way when the crash occurred. Both Ainsworth and Moore died at the scene. The Colorado State Patrol is leading the investigation.
