On 10/12/2025, 22-year-old Manuel Mateo Lopez was a passenger in a vehicle pursued by Border Patrol agents in West El Paso. The driver did not stop after agents spotted individuals running from the border wall. The chase continued along West Paisano Drive, where the vehicle hit a curb and light pole and rolled over. Lopez and another passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Five others were injured in the crash.
