On January 27, 2021, a multi-county vehicle pursuit began in Atascosa County and ended near the Southwest Side of San Antonio outside Jerry D. Allen Elementary School. The driver, 48-year-old Felix Santos, evaded officers, led them into Bexar County, and allegedly exchanged gunfire with law enforcement. Santos was shot during the confrontation and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
