On February 20, 2021, Lincoln Police and Nebraska State Patrol engaged a vehicle tied to an earlier robbery report. Police escalated a pursuit; the driver continued driving. Near 56th Street and Arbor Road, police said the pair pointed firearms at officers during a standoff. Officers opened fire, critically wounding Christian W. Alexander, 26. He died from his injuries on February 23, 2021. A grand jury later cleared involved officers.
