OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 10/26/2025, around 5 p.m., officers with the Fort Atkinson Police Department responded to reports of a disturbance involving shots fired at a home on the 600 block of Washington Street. During the encounter, a Fort Atkinson police officer discharged his weapon, striking a man inside the residence. A rifle was recovered at the scene. The man was transported by air to a Madison hospital where he later died. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.
