OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 10/27/2025, around midnight, a Wrightsville police officer and a firefighter were standing outside a gas station on East College Street in Wrightsville, Georgia. Diamond Daspin Seltzer approached and attacked the firefighter with a large bladed weapon described as a machete or sword. The officer intervened and opened fire, striking Seltzer. He was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. The firefighter sustained severe arm injuries but is expected to survive. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.
