OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 10/29/2025, during the early morning hours, Mesa Police officers responded to a trespassing call near Sossaman Road and Ray Road. The man fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers used a grappler device to stop the car, but he continued accelerating and refused commands. Police deployed less-lethal munitions including bean bags and PepperBall rounds. During the standoff, the man opened fire from inside the vehicle, striking an officer who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Officers opened fire and later heard a single gunshot from inside the car. The man was found dead at the scene. The East Valley Critical Incident Response Team is investigating.
