OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/05/2023, at approximately 7:56 p.m., Ashland County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 200 block of State Route 250 East in Rowsburg after receiving a report that Larry Dunham was experiencing a suicidal crisis. Deputies found Dunham sitting in a lawn chair in the backyard and attempted to speak with him as they approached.
According to the Ashland County Sheriff's Office, Dunham threw his cellphone to the ground and confronted deputies with deadly force. Deputies fired their service weapons, striking Dunham. He died at the scene. The Ashland County Coroner transported his body for an autopsy, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation assumed responsibility for the investigation. No deputies were injured.
