On August 10, 2023, at about 11:20 p.m., Atlanta PD was dispatched to the intersection of Cunningham Place and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard to investigate a traffic collision. A driver later identified as Johnny Hollman, age 62, of Atlanta, allegedly “became non-compliant” and the officer tried to arrest him. After a physical struggle, the officer used a Taser as Hollman continued to resist arrest. Police handcuffed him and realized he had died. He had been a local church deacon.

During the standoff, Richardson shot himself inside the apartment. He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. Garcia’s vehicle jolted into motion with the dog still attacking him and vehicle bumped into a police cruiser and a civilian’s car while trying to escape the police violence. He ran into a telephone pole and police shot and killed him.

Mesquite PD said an officer tried to stop the driver of a Honda Pilot at about 8:45 p.m. Friday near West Scyene and Gross roads. The driver reportedly refused to pull over and police escalated a chase causing him to strike multiple vehicles and road signs before coming to a stop in a yard on the 1700 block of Carnation Drive.
As the man exited his SUV, he allegedly reached back into the vehicle. Police shot and killed him.The shooter officer, Matthew Bacon, committed suicide the following day.
