On 07/05/2021, Los Angeles Police Department officers pursued a stolen Kia driven by an underage sdriver believed to be under the influence. The pursuit continued through residential and arterial streets and ended violently at the intersection of Central Avenue and the 105 Freeway when the vehicle collided with another car. The driver of the other vehicle, Alexis Covarrubias, was killed at the scene. The teens were detained and faced multiple charges related to vehicle theft, intoxication, and evading police.
