OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/13/2021, at approximately 8:51 p.m., a Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office deputy attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation near eastbound Interstate 220 at Lakeshore Drive. The driver continued driving away while deputies pursued at speeds exceeding 100 mph. The pursuit ended about one mile away on Lakeside Drive after the vehicle came to a stop. Deputies surrounded the vehicle and found the driver seated behind the wheel with a gunshot wound. Investigators determined the driver died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while still inside the vehicle. The death was investigated as a suicide.
