OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
An Indianapolis officer saw a vehicle driving recklessly and initiated a traffic stop. The man stopped and spoke with the officer, then went in his car, and according to police claims, he retrieved a gun and fled from police. Police shot and killed him. Police did not claim that he had threatened the officer with the gun. Family state that he was shot in his back when he ran from police and had been no threat to them. He had been the eighth shooting victim of Indianapolis Metro PD in 2023.
