On 12/01/2025, officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle and the driver did not stop. Police escalated a chase but the vehicle continued driving at high speed, weaved through traffic, and lost control while attempting a turn. It crashed into a pole at East Alameda Avenue and South Peoria Street. Both people inside the fleeing vehicle were killed at the scene.
