On 12/05/2025, police in Troy tracked a shooting suspect to a residence on Orchard Court after a victim reported being shot during a planned meeting with a girl he had met online. The victim reached a Circle K gas station on Edwardsville Road and told officers he had been confronted by an armed 23 year old man who shot him and demanded his belongings. With the assistance of a K 9 team, officers located the suspects inside a home. The juvenile girl was detained during the search. As officers neared the closet where the man was hiding, he shot himself with a handgun. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. The incident raised community concern due to the involvement of a juvenile and the online interaction that led to the shooting.
