On 12/03/2025 officers responded to a disturbance call at an apartment building on Holgate Drive in Essex. Inside they encountered Howard Sye who was holding a knife. Under unclear circumstances the situation escalated and officers opened fire and killed him. A woman inside the apartment was found with injuries consistent with stab wounds.
