OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/12/2025 a Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop on a Nissan sedan on Route 4 in Prince Frederick and activated emergency lights. The driver did not stop and the deputy continued following as the Nissan reached an estimated speed over 83 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. At the intersection of Route 4 and Stoakley Road the Nissan crashed into a Honda sedan driven by Servon Gatewood and also struck a Kia sport utility vehicle. Gatewood was taken to CalvertHealth Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The Kia driver and passenger were hospitalized with injuries described as not life threatening. Investigators later charged the Nissan driver Savon Quincy Samuel with felony negligent manslaughter by vehicle and related offenses and the Maryland Office of the Attorney General Independent Investigations Division is reviewing the pursuit and collision.
