OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 09/08/2021, a deputy with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle connected to a domestic disturbance. The driver refused to stop and police escalated a chase. Although the deputy ended the pursuit, the fleeing vehicle soon crossed the center line on Highway 151 and struck a dump truck. The passenger Stacey Lynn Watts was ejected in the crash and died at the scene.
