On 08/03/2021 at about 4 a.m. the Lawrence Police Department pursued a vehicle occupied by multiple young teens. The pursuit crossed county lines and ended when the vehicle struck a tree at Boone County Road 650 E and State Road 32. 13-year-old Kamyla Young, a front-seat passenger, died in the crash.
