REASON WHY PURSUIT WAS INITIATED:
At approximately 12:52 p.m., LaPorte County Sheriff’s officers identified a 2020 Infiniti QX60 as a stolen vehicle on Interstate 94 near mile marker 32–34 and attempted to stop it. The driver continued driving away and deputies escalated a high-speed pursuit.

EVENT NARRATIVE:
On 11/03/2021, at approximately 12:52 p.m., LaPorte County Sheriff’s officers began pursuing the Infiniti on I-94. The vehicle was initially traveling eastbound, exited at U.S. Highway 421, then re-entered I-94 traveling westbound. Police described the Infiniti as traveling at a high rate of speed.

Police deployed stop sticks during the pursuit, but the Infiniti avoided them and the pursuit continued west through LaPorte and Porter counties toward Lake County. The available reporting does not provide a reliable numerical maximum speed.

As the pursuit continued into Lake County, the Infiniti collided with a Porter County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle.
