On 01/03/2021, Sonny Brower was traveling on U.S. Highway 17 near Beehive Road in Mount Pleasant when a Charleston County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle struck his car. Authorities said the deputy was driving at a high rate of speed while responding to a reported domestic disturbance call. The patrol vehicle collided with the civilian vehicle, killing Brower at the scene. Sandra Eisner, a 77 year old woman traveling in the same vehicle, was also killed. The deputy survived and later received a traffic citation. Brower’s family pursued civil action related to the crash.
