On 01/11/2021 at approximately 6 a.m., Edinburg police officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on Orlando Street. Police stated that when officers arrived, an assault was underway inside the home. According to police accounts, Jesse Daniel Davila moved toward an officer during the encounter. An officer opened fire, shooting and killing Davila. The incident was placed under investigation. Davila’s family later pursued a civil lawsuit, and the City of Edinburg reached a settlement related to the shooting.
