OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 01/19/2021, Greeley police observed Christopher Austin Dockery leave a residence in Evans. Police said officers were aware he had an active felony warrant and attempted to stop his vehicle. Dockery did not stop, and officers escalated a brief chase that ended when his vehicle crashed. Police reported that Dockery left the vehicle and entered a nearby gas station while holding a handgun. Officers said he attempted to take a vehicle in the parking lot while they gave commands for him to surrender. During the encounter, officers opened fire and shot Dockery. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting was placed under investigation, and no charges against officers were announced at the time of reporting.
