On 02/07/2021, around 11:25 a.m., Redding police officers responded to a report of a person waving a gun on the Cypress Avenue Bridge. Officers encountered two men and Brooke Leann Blair on the south curb of the bridge. Police said the group was initially cooperative while officers spoke with them. During the encounter, Blair removed a replica handgun from her waistband and raised it. Officers opened fire and killed her at the scene. The district attorney later ruled the shooting justified.
