In response to the imminent threat, troopers and officers discharged their weapons, fatally striking Wilbur. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lycoming County Coroner. On February 11, 2021, Alexis Leigh Davis-Gooden, 35, was initially stopped by a Menands Police Department officer on Broadway in Menands, New York. After providing her information, the officer returned to his patrol car to run checks through state and federal systems. Shortly thereafter, she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the front gate of the Watervliet Arsenal. Davis-Gooden was pronounced dead at the scene.

On February 8, 2021, Jonathan O'quin entered Hillcom and fired multiple rounds, killing Kenny Hill in his apartment above the business. A deputy pursued O'quin for about three miles before O'quin turned onto Bartlick Road. O'quin stopped at Bartlick Bridge, got out of the vehicle, and fired multiple rounds at the deputy. The deputy returned fire but did not hit him. O'quin then fatally shot himself in the head with a high-powered rifle.

On 02/08/2021, at approximately 1 a.m., officers from the Detroit Police Department were responding to a request for backup with their lights and sirens activated in a marked Ford Explorer traveling east on Jeffries Service Drive. The police vehicle collided with a Lexus IS 250 driven by Clifford Woodards II at the intersection of Jeffries Service Drive and W. Chicago in Detroit, killing bystander Woordards. The officer driving, TeairaFunderburg, was later charged with involuntary manslaughter and willful neglect of duty following the investigation, which revealed she was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a red light. Woodards, a prominent defense attorney and civil rights activist, was known for his sharp wit and community involvement. His daughter, Melissa Connelly, filed a $50 million lawsuit against the city of Detroit, alleging negligence and seeking justice for her father's death. The lawsuit highlighted that Funderburg had a history of speeding and traffic violations. Woodards was driving lawfully at the time of the crash, within the speed limit and with the right of way. The impact caused Woodards' vehicle to flip over and crash into a light pole. Officer Funderburgwas suspended without pay.In August 2022, Funderburg pleaded no contest to willful neglect of duty as part of a plea agreement, leading to the dismissal of the involuntary manslaughter charge. As a condition of the plea, she agreed to resign her Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certification, effectively ending her career as a police officer. She was sentenced to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service.

During the search, officers entered several backyards in the neighborhood on the 200 block of South Boulevard. Officer Elias Aurelio Cerdasencountered 58-year-old Joseph Johnson in his own backyard and shot him, mistakenly believing he was the fleeing driver. Johnson was unarmed and was not the wanted man but a local homeowner in his own backyard. The wanted man, Tanner Shoesmith, was later found hiding in a nearby shed. In August 2021, Officer Cerdas was indicted on a charge of felony involuntary manslaughter, and in February 2023, Johnson’s family filed a federal wrongful death lawsuit against the Idaho Falls Police Department, alleging excessive force and civil rights violations.

Tatum did not comply with the stop and fled, leading to a chase that extended beyond Oxford into Lafayette County. After calling for backup, Tatum pulled over but then ran into a nearby residence. After ending contact with the crisis line, Sailer exited the apartment while armed with a gun. Police said he did not comply with commands to disarm. On February 7, 2021, around 9:30 a.m., Lacy Lakeview police responded to a call from a neighbor reporting a man running around with an ax. The man, later identified as 34-year-old Dustin Demaurean Powell, allegedly struck several cars with the ax, shattering at least one window. On February 7, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Dallas police officers responded to reports of an active shooter at an apartment in the 9800 block of Summerwood Circle. Upon arrival, officers were fired upon, resulting in damage to a squad car's window; no officers were injured, and they did not return fire. The situation escalated into a standoff, with SWAT units deployed. At around 7 p.m., officers entered the apartment and discovered three individuals deceased from gunshot wounds: 26-year-old Marietta Julieze Matthews, her mother, 55-year-old Tamiko Geniece Merriwether, and 24-year-old Nathan Rashad James. Investigations revealed that James, who was in a relationship with Matthews and resided with her, fatally shot both women before taking his own life.

On 02/06/2021, police responded around 8 p.m. to a reported domestic violence incident at a home in Kearns. Dennis Denham was reported to have threatened his 15-year-old grandson with a gun. Shortly after officers arrived, two gunshots were heard from inside the house. Denham’s wife and four grandchildren fled to a neighbor’s home. Denham remained inside and later exited the residence, yelling at officers and firing shots toward them. Police opened fire and killed Denham at the scene. The shooting was later ruled justified by the prosecutor.

On 02/06/2021, shortly after 11:30 a.m., a woman called 911 to report an armed man in her yard in Phoenix. While she was on the phone with dispatch, the man entered her home. The woman escaped through a window without injury. Responding officers surrounded the house and later observed Anthony Greco exit into the backyard while still armed. Officers ordered him to drop the gun. When he did not comply and reportedly raised the weapon, an officer opened fire and killed Greco at the scene. The shooting was later reviewed and cleared by the county attorney.

On February 6, 2021, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Long Beach Police Department officers responded to reports of a man, later identified as 26-year-old Anthony Steven Loia, walking near Magnolia Avenue and 14th Street, pointing a handgun at people and passing vehicles. Upon arrival, officers located Loia, who matched the description provided by callers. Officers gave multiple commands for Loia to drop his firearm, which he ignored. When he refused to comply, five officers opened fire, striking Loia. Officers immediately performed CPR, but Loia was pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm was recovered near his body.

The Long Beach Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, including reviewing body-worn camera footage from the involved officers. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is also conducting an independent investigation, as per standard protocol for officer-involved shootings resulting in injury or death. The names of the involved officers have not been publicly disclosed.

Phillip Francis, 43, allegedly choked a woman, set her house on fire, and later returned to the scene where he began shooting at deputies. At least one deputy from the Orange County Sheriff's Office shot Francis. He was hospitalized following the incident and died from his injuries on February 13, 2021.

On 02/06/2021, around 8 a.m., Montgomery County police received multiple 911 calls reporting a man driving erratically in a Volkswagen sedan on Olney Laytonsville Road and Fieldcrest Road in Gaithersburg. Before Deputy Frank Pruitt arrived, the driver had already struck two vehicles. Upon arrival, Pruitt observed Kevin Costlow approaching two individuals with a large stick. A confrontation ensued where Costlow struck Pruitt with the stick. Pruitt attempted to use his Taser on Costlow, but it was ineffective. Subsequently, Deputy Pruitt shot and killed Costlow.

On February 6, 2021, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Camden County Police Officer Edward Melton and Officer Trainee Danielle Sigwart observed a Dodge Charger driven by Rashad M. Muse speeding on Morton Street. When Officer Melton attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Muse fled the scene, leading to a brief pursuit. The officers located the vehicle after it crashed into a support in the underpass at I-676. Muse exited the vehicle and fled on foot, climbing over a fence and running up an embankment onto I-676, where he was struck by civilian vehicles and fatally injured. The incident was captured on body-worn cameras and a street camera.

On February 5, 2021, Muncie Police Department officers responded to a home in the 1600 block of North Riley Road in Muncie, Indiana, following reports of a domestic dispute. A woman who had left the house with a child and another family member informed officers that a man inside the home was loading a rifle and making threats to harm himself. It was also reported that a domestic battery had occurred. Officers contacted the man by phone but soon heard what they believed to be a gunshot from inside the residence. Over the next six hours, several more gunshots were heard. Eventually, police entered the home and discovered the man's body.

On 02/05/2021, California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a man in crisis on Interstate 10 near San Antonio Avenue in Upland. Earlier, McMurtry’s wife had contacted authorities seeking help, reporting that he was suicidal. McMurtry was observed moving between lanes of traffic on the freeway while holding a knife. During the encounter with CHP officers, the situation escalated and a trooper opened fire, killing McMurtry at the scene. The district attorney later ruled the shooting justified. McMurtry’s family subsequently filed a civil claim against the state.
