On 02/28/2021, Catoosa County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call on Alabama Highway in Ringgold, Georgia involving Fred Bowman Trundle. Deputies attempted to take him into custody and deployed a taser during the encounter. Deputies then exited the residence and remained outside for approximately one hour. Trundle later exited the home holding a shotgun. Deputies opened fire, killing him at the scene. The incident was reported as under investigation, and no charges against deputies were announced.
