On 03/04/2021, police responded to a call reporting that 17 year old Judson Albahm was experiencing a mental health crisis and had run from medical staff who were attempting to assist him. Officers from multiple agencies searched the area and located Albahm in a wooded section near Coye Road and Apulia Road. During the encounter, police said Albahm raised an object toward officers. Police opened fire and killed him at the scene. The object was later identified as a replica gun. The killing drew public scrutiny after video evidence raised questions about what officers knew at the time of the shooting and whether lethal force was necessary against a teenager in crisis.
