On February 21, 2021, 23-year-old Keean Smalls of Augusta, Georgia, died after a police pursuit ended in a crash. Around 4:00 a.m., Richmond County Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop Smalls’ vehicle on Gordon Highway. Smalls did not stop, and deputies initiated a pursuit. The chase ended when Smalls drove through a Sprint gas station parking lot near Barton Chapel Road and crashed into the rear of a parked tractor-trailer. Smalls was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:55 a.m. He had to be extricated from the vehicle. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.

On 02/21/2021, Michigan State Police troopers responded to a call regarding an armed individual exhibiting irrational behavior in the 9700 block of North Wyman Road, Blancha Road. Andrew Allen Courser was reported to have fired a gun near homes and yelled at passing vehicles. Upon arrival, along with a Home Township police officer, Courser allegedly shot at the officers, who returned fire. Courser then barricaded himself in a barn approximately a quarter of a mile away from the initial scene. After a standoff lasting about four hours, Courser emerged from the barn, pointing a gun at the police. Troopers then shot and killed him. The incident is under investigation by the Michigan State Police.

Daniel Newton Neal, who had an active warrant for robbery, attempted to evade police. On February 20, 2021, officers from the Lonoke Police Department recognized a vehicle linked to a North Carolina child-abduction investigation parked at a McDonald’s in Lonoke, Arkansas. The driver, 38-year-old William Robert Ice of Pennsylvania, refused to stop, and police escalated a chase south on Arkansas Highway 31. The vehicle became disabled in a snowbank on Raprich Road. The incident began when California Highway Patrol officers identified Puga's vehicle, a white Ford Expedition, matching the description from a shooting incident the previous evening on Interstate 15. When officers attempted a traffic stop, Puga did not stop. Police escalated a chase involving both CHP and San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies. The chase concluded at the intersection of Peach Avenue and Catalpa Street, where Puga's vehicle became disabled. On February 17, 2021, deputies from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office attempted to arrest 28-year-old James Edward Coe for outstanding warrants. Deputies observed Coe and another individual leaving a residence in Salisbury and getting into a white Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

This explanation was used to escalate a high-speed chase that continued until the I-85 southbound ramp near Julian Road. On February 17, 2021, around 8:40 p.m., two Houston police officers saw a black pickup truck speeding and followed it to a parking lot next to a taco truck on Little York Road. On February 14, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., off-duty Corbin Police Department Sgt. Stephen Meadors was contacted at his residence on Dogwood Cove in Corbin, Kentucky, by a neighbor reporting a prowler. Sgt. Meadors went outside and encountered 19-year-old Phillip N. Davenport. An altercation ensued, during which Sgt. Meadors opened fire, killing Davenport. Davenport was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, where he was pronounced deceased by the Whitley County Coroner. The Kentucky State Police investigated the incident. On February 14, 2021, El Paso police responded to a family violence call at a residence in the 3400 block of Sunset Rose Drive. The man, Adam Bruce Connors, 32, had left the scene before officers arrived. Later, police received a report of a possible suicidal person involving Connors. Officers located him approaching the residence on foot, armed with a shotgun. Despite commands to drop the weapon, Connors continued toward the house, which was occupied by one adult and six children. Officer I. Lujan fired a single shot from a patrol rifle, striking Connors, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

On February 13, 2021, Aaron Negash, 28, was stopped in a Hyundai SUV on the shoulder of westbound I-70 facing the wrong direction when an Indiana State Police trooper arrived. As the trooper parked in front of the SUV and exited his squad car, Negash drove forward, veering around the police vehicle. He continued driving about a half-mile in the wrong direction before crashing into a Hyundai Sonata carrying two occupants. The collision resulted in the deaths of Negash, the Sonata's driver, Jepthah Lian, 34, and an unidentified passenger.

On February 13, 2021, around 11:30 p.m., officers from the Speedway Police Department responded to a call about a person in the 5900 block of West 25th Street in Speedway, Indiana. Upon arrival, police alleged that De'AireJontae Gray, 28, ran from an officer and displayed a weapon during the pursuit. The officer then shot and killed Gray.

On 02/13/2021, Fontana police officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a woman’s home. Officers reported finding Daverion Kinard inside the residence and attempting to detain him. Kinard did not stop, and police chased him through multiple neighborhoods. Officers later located him inside an outbuilding. Under circumstances not fully explained by police, officers opened fire and killed Kinard. Authorities withheld specific details about what led to the shooting.

On 02/13/2021, at approximately 10 p.m., U.S. Marshals were involved in a vehicle pursuit of a wanted individual in Pocatello. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed near North 6th Avenue and East Sublette Street. Two men exited the vehicle. Police reported that Brandon Steklein exchanged gunfire with deputy U.S. marshals, and marshals opened fire, killing him at the scene. The second individual fled but later surrendered to police without further incident.
