On 04/19/2021, a Detroit police officer shot and killed a man during a response to a 911 call reporting a mental health crisis at a residence on Hanna Street in Highland Park. Police responded to the call and made contact with the individual inside the home. During the encounter, police stated the man was holding a knife. Police reported that the man stabbed the responding officer multiple times. The officer then opened fire, killing the man at the scene.
