On 05/03/2021, Glendale police officers responded to a reported residential burglary near 59th Avenue and Northern Avenue. Officers located Mariano Villegas inside a garage at the property. Police attempted to engage Villegas over a period of time. During the encounter, officers shot Villegas. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
