OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 05/29/2021, Placentia police officers observed an occupied vehicle parked behind a closed business on North Rose Drive during the early morning hours. Officers attempted to make contact with the person inside the vehicle. Police reported that during the encounter, Matthew Wong discharged a firearm toward officers, striking the front windshield of a patrol vehicle. Officers then fired their weapons, shooting and killing Wong at the scene. The Orange County District Attorney later reviewed the incident and determined the shooting was justified. No officers were charged.
