On 05/31/2021, Louisiana State Police were involved in a standoff with Michael Jackson after police chased a vehicle from Mississippi into Madison Parish. The pursuit ended near U.S. Highway 65 and Ashley Plantation Road in Quimby. According to police, Jackson exited the vehicle during the standoff and threatened to kill himself while holding a firearm. Officers reported that Jackson then pointed the gun outward during the encounter. Troopers fired, shooting and killing Jackson at the scene.
