OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 06/01/2021, Ray City police responded to a residence on Pauline Avenue to conduct a wellness check. When officers arrived, they encountered Donald Myers. During the encounter, police opened fire and shot Myers. Emergency medical personnel transported him to South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, where he later died from his injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation assumed control of the case at the request of Ray City police. The investigation was later submitted to the Berrien County District Attorney’s Office for review. No officers were charged.
