On 06/03/2021, San Antonio police officers responded to a disturbance call outside a business in the 2300 block of Castroville Road. Officers encountered Kolton Mitchell Chavez holding a knife. Police ordered Chavez to drop the knife. Chavez continued moving toward officers. Officers opened fire, striking Chavez. Chavez was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. Police later released body-worn camera footage and 911 audio related to the incident.
