OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 06/04/2021, Tucson police officers were present at Jesse Owens Park when a woman approached them and reported a domestic assault. Officers located Raymond Edwards on another side of the park. During the encounter, officers told Edwards to drop an object described by police as a sharp-edged weapon. Edwards did not comply. Police stated that Edwards moved toward officers, and two officers opened fire and shot him. Edwards died from his injuries at the scene. The shooting was placed under investigation. No officers were charged.
